About Us

What is a Nurse Practitioner (NP)?

Nurse Practitioners are highly trained healthcare professionals who work independently and as a part of the medical team.

They are experienced registered nurses who have completed a clinical Masters degree and then have completed additional study to become a Nurse Practitioner (NP).

NPs are experts with advanced knowledge and skills working within a specific area of health. They can obtain medical histories, perform examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, diagnose illness and prescribe within their area of expertise. They work in partnership with other health professionals to provide you with a package of care to meet your needs.

Within the Tui Medical Group of clinics we currently have one Nurse Practitioner and two Nurse Practitioners in training.

You have the right to refuse to be seen by the Nurse Practitioner at any time.

Because Nurse Practitioners require a special license to prescribe, some of them will get a doctor to review their prescriptions as part of the license application process.

If you have any questions regarding NPs, please feel free to ask one of our nurses.
