General Practitioner & Medical Director

I arrived in Hamilton in 1996 and started work at Waikato Hospital in November of that year. I worked primarily in intensive care medicine and emergency medicine before leaving the hospital in August 2007 to move to the community and become a general practitioner.

I am now vocationally registered in general practice (with the RNZCGP) and in urgent care (with the RNZCUC). It was not until I started general practice and urgent care that I realised how much I enjoyed it, and I am grateful for my experience at the hospital which has prepared me for this challenge. Whilst I enjoy all facets of general practice, urgent care, cardiology, care of the older person, mental health and palliative care are areas I find myself drawn to, and enjoy. Joint injections are another area I am particularly interested in and am proficient. I also do the exercise ECG clinic and the fracture clinic at Tui Medical, Rototuna. I enjoy my practice of medicine and I also supervise nurse practitioners in training, physician assistants, GP registrars and medical students. My wife is a dentist practicing in Hamilton, and we are blessed with two beautiful children who keep me honest and on my toes.
